Thessaloniki_ancient-and-modern

Greece’s second-largest city has a past stretching back over 2,000 years. Roman and Ottoman ruins, as well as a myriad of Byzantine monuments, attest to the city’s animated past. Thessaloniki is also a very modern, youth-orientated city with more than 50,000 students contributing to the lively atmosphere in this harbour city. In the evening the locals pour into the parks, squares and streets and indulge in the culinary delights of the cafés and taverns.
