This lively metropolis has an impressive and unique cultural heritage. The most famous monuments are the Acropolis, the Theatre of Dionysus and the Amphitheatre. But you come across some fascinating piece of Greek history (and stories) on practically every corner. Another main attraction is the Plaka district in the old town with its narrow, labyrinthine alleys, arts and crafts shops, numerous taverns and the famous flea market. Tip: be sure to visit the harbour at Piraeus with its luxury yachts and cruise ships.
